LBGT History at Michigan State University
2008 - 2009
The 2008-2009 academic year was our fourth year in 302 Student Services.
Deanna (Dee) Hurlbert moved into the Assistant Director position.
Student staff included graduate assistant Danielle (Dani) Masuda
and undergraduate program assistant Michelle Nickerson.
Highlights
- Spartan Remix
- Instead of the Fall Student Welcome and Statewide Resource Fair,
this year began with a new event: Spartan Remix.
- National Coming Out Days
- National Coming Out Days is the first set of
major student-organized LBGT-focused events of the year.
- Transgender Day of Remembrance
- The Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance was observed on campus
through events sponsored by TransAction and the LBGT Resource Center.
- Pride Week
- This year saw more than of week of varied Pride Week events.
- Lavender Reception
- This was the fourth year for the Lavender Reception:
LBGTA Graduates & Student Leaders Recognition Event, held in the Union Gold Rooms.
