with photos and locations of buildings.

and community political action, intersections of LBGT identies and race,
ethnicity, nationality, spiritual concerns and academic and professional
affiliation.
Student organizations at MSU have a complex and lengthy history. The comments
below only begin to touch on the details, but should help you understand some
of the differences between groups.
Residence Hall groups
The residence hall LBGTA groups primarily focus on being safe spaces
for personal and social support and on campus-wide education. Each residence hall
complex has a group, as provided by the RHA constitution.
Some groups have their own permanent meeting room; some groups meet in various
locations in the complex. Funding for each group comes through RHA.
PRIDE is the West Circle LBGTA caucus.

Council Of Progressive Students
The Alliance is one of six COPS groups, and receives funding through the
Programming Board of ASMSU (the MSU student government). It is the oldest
of the existing LBGTA groups, tracing its
history on campus
to 1970.
Alliance of LBGT and Straight Ally Students meets in 441 Union.
The Alliance has a tradition of campus and community political action and serving
as a voice in MSU student governance. Facebook group:
The Alliance of LBGTA Students.
Registered Student Organizations
There are usually 500-600 organizations registered through the Department
of Student Life. RSOs have access to some University facilities, but have no
permanent meeting place and more difficult access to funding than other groups.
SGL-SOCIAL (Same-Gender Loving Students of Color,
Internationals & Allies). This group provides a safe space
for personal support and educates on issues related to intersections of race,
ethnicity, nationality and LBGT identities. Facebook group:
Same Gender Loving Students Of Color Internationals and Allies (SGL-SOCIAL).
TransAction
(formerly Phi Tau Mu) is a trans-focused student organization. It
does not publish its meeting times and places to help create a safe space
for its members; please email the
group for information.
